On maintenance, yes for most homeowners. The aluminum framing will not rot, warp, or need repainting, and the insulated roof panels block far more heat than wood or an open cover. Wood still wins on a specific rustic look, which is why we build both and help you choose.
It is an aluminum-skinned panel with a foam core that spans the cover without interior rafters. The foam cuts radiant heat from the sun and dampens rain noise, so the space underneath stays cooler and quieter than it would beneath a solid metal or polycarbonate roof.
